Many recognize Bryson Tendō Keenan as one of the early pillars of the Okinawa Gojuryu Kenkyukai. To countless others, however, he embodied the true spirit of a Martial Artist, a dedicated Sensei, and a supportive friend to anyone eager to train. His presence will be deeply missed in our dojo, within our organization, and throughout the ongoing journey of Karate.

Let his passing serve as a reminder to train earnestly with whoever is beside you, and to always live by the words: 黙って練習しろ！

On 13th September at Sensei Taira's Dojo in Okinawa there was a grading. William Kern was promoted to 7 Dan. Takahiro Yamada was promoted to 6 Dan.

Taira Sensei in NZ - I have paid for Sensei's flights for our planned seminar 29 Nov - 1 Dec.
For those in Dunedin that wish to come, that don't train Taira Sensei's method, we will hold open 'Taira method basics' classes in our dojo. Anyone wishing a training session in their own dojo, just ask.
While Taira Sensei's method is goju ryu based, if you have any 'goju like' kata (gekisai, saifa, seiunchin) there are sufficient overlaps to make the training worthwhile.
