✍️ Calling All Young Writers!
Have a story to tell, an idea to share, or a poem waiting to be written? The SWWC Creative Writing Contest is your chance to put your words on the page and share your voice.

Students in grades 3–12 can submit an original:
📖 Fiction story
✏️ Poem
📝 Nonfiction story

The top three entries in each category and grade group will be recognized at the Creative Writing Recognition Ceremony on April 18, 2027. Students may enter through their school or with a parent.

📅 Submission Deadline: December 18, 2026
📍 Open to students in Southwest Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota
Writing is a chance to explore your imagination, express your ideas, build confidence, and discover your voice. So keep writing. Keep creating. Keep sharing your voice!

Students will spend the day creating, exploring new art forms, learning from professional artists, and discovering just how much fun it is to make something uniquely their own.

Thanks to the United Way of Southwest Minnesota, SWWC Student Enrichment gives students opportunities to experiment, create, compete, explore and discover something new. They help turn an ordinary school day into one they’ll be talking about on the bus ride home. 🚌💡🎨🔬
