Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care Prairie Home Hospice is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1984 to provide hospice care and services to terminally ill persons and their families.

Hospice is a special concept of care for a person in the latter stages of a terminal illness. Our philosophy affirms life and regards death as a normal process. The focus of care is quality of living and dignity with the patient/family retaining control of their lives and treatments. Hospice cares for the total person with support and comfort for the physical, emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs of both patient and the family. Hospice care is available to anyone who meets our admission criteria without regards to national origin, handicap, age, race, color, creed or ability to pay.

🍲 How many PHH workers does it take to dish out a bowl of soup?

Apparently… quite a few! 😂

We’ve started a new tradition at the office: SOUPer Mondays! 🥣💜 Because there’s nothing quite like gathering around a warm meal, sharing some laughs, and enjoying a little time together as a team.

A BIG thank you to our fearless leader, Lynn (not pictured), for treating us to her delicious Chicken Wild Rice Soup this past Monday! It was the perfect way to warm up a chilly day. ❤️

Good soup. Good people. Good company.
That sounds like a pretty SOUPer Monday to us! 🥣💜

🕯️ Before the craziness of the holidays begins, take a moment to remember those who are no longer with us. 🕯️

The holidays can be beautiful, but they can also be difficult when someone you love is missing from the celebrations.

Join Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care for The Light to Remember, a special opportunity to honor and remember the people who hold a forever place in our hearts.

✨ Dedicate a light in memory of someone you love.
✨ Celebrate the life they lived.
✨ Carry their memory with you into the holiday season.

Your loved one’s name will be included in our Light to Remember ceremony as we pause together to remember, reflect, and find light in the midst of grief.

💜 Register your loved one at:

Because even when someone is no longer beside us, their light can still shine. 🕯️

Sometimes, hospice care looks like medicine, comfort, and quiet moments.

And sometimes… it looks like dancing. 💜

Cora and Eileen remind us that even in the midst of life’s hardest moments, there is still room for joy, laughter, connection, and a little dancing.

It’s not always about the big moments. Sometimes, it’s the simple ones that become the most meaningful.

Because hospice is about more than the end of life.
It’s about making every moment of life matter. 💜

💙 Today was filled with a little extra joy at Lockwood House! 💙

We had some very special visitors from True Light Christian School today! These sweet kindergarteners came to spend time with the residents of Prairie Home Hospice, playing games, singing songs, and enjoying a snack together. 🎶🎲🍪

Words truly cannot describe the joy we saw on our residents’ faces as they interacted with these sweet little ones. The laughter, smiles, and connection shared today were such a beautiful reminder that the simplest moments can create the most meaningful memories. 🥰

A heartfelt thank you to True Light Christian School for sharing your kindergarteners with us today. Thank you for bringing so much love, laughter, and sunshine into Lockwood House! We are so grateful for the opportunity to make these special connections between generations. 💕

We hope you know just how much your visit meant to our residents — and to all of us at Prairie Home Hospice!

Come back and see us again soon! 💙

💗 A Special Bingo Guest at Prairie Home Hospice! 💗

On Sunday, staff member Jen Rigge shared one of her most precious gifts with our Prairie Home Hospice residents—her granddaughter, Hazel! 🥰

Hazel joined us for a special visit and even got to call the Bingo numbers! 🎉🎲 Her sweet personality, contagious smiles, giggles, and youthful energy brought so much joy into the house.

There’s something truly special about the way children can brighten a room and bring a little extra light to an ordinary day. We loved having Hazel with us, and our residents certainly enjoyed her visit! 💕

Thank you, Jen and Hazel, for sharing your joy and helping make our residents’ day a little brighter! 🌸
