We thank Senator Brendan Crighton and State Representative Sean Reid for stopping by Family Child Care member leader Nirma's daycare program in Lynn to learn about the challenges family care educators are facing across the state. Massachusetts faces a workforce and care crisis. 30,000 working families are waiting for childcare assistance while family child care educators struggle to keep their programs open. That’s why we’re fighting for increased funding for wage rates and an end to the voucher freeze waitlist!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Janet Bailey, a long-time SEIU 509 adjunct faculty member in the Arts Administration program at BU's Metropolitan College. She served on all of the BU adjunct faculty bargaining committees, and was a true labor activist: always speaking at rallies, tabling, and attending new member orientations. A seasoned steward, Janet received a SEIU 509 Higher Ed steward's award in 2024. Our union siblings remember her as "a gracious, forceful presence," with "a fire in her I truly admired," and as a smart, witty, and powerful union steward.

Our hearts go out to Janet's family, her loved ones, colleagues, and students. We will miss her deeply.

💜 Better Community Living workers are purpling up at their worksites and for their communities! Many BCL workers have been providing care for the Greater New Bedford area for over 20 years and deserve a fair contract that secures fair wage increases and stronger benefits for all.

This is what worker power looks like ✊ After nearly two years of negotiations, collective actions, a two-day strike, and growing community support—Lesley University Core faculty have reached a tentative agreement! Lesley faculty stood united and won strong wage increases, higher minimum salaries, workload protections, & limits on the maximum class size increases over the life of their contract.

Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands (ESCCI) workers purpled up at their recent annual meeting to call on management for stronger benefits! ESCCI workers should not have to choose between their health and a paycheck.
