Sparks were flying last week at AOMC's Welding Camp!

We had the privilege of hosting 10 outstanding high school students for a hands-on introduction to the world of welding. Throughout the camp, students gained valuable experience with welding techniques, learned about industry safety, and explored the skills that can lead to a rewarding career in manufacturing.

A special thank you to Washington State College of Ohio - Marietta, OH for opening their welding lab and providing an incredible learning environment for our students. Partnerships like this help bridge the gap between education and industry, giving young people the opportunity to discover careers they may never have considered.

Experiences like this camp are about much more than learning to weld. They allow students to build confidence, develop technical skills, and see firsthand the opportunities available in the skilled trades. Whether a student chooses to enter the workforce after high school, pursue an apprenticeship, or continue their education, early exposure to in-demand careers like welding helps them make informed decisions about their future.

At AOMC, we believe the next generation of skilled workers is already here, we just need to provide opportunities for them to ignite their potential.

Thank you to our students, instructors, and partners for making this camp a success. We can't wait to see where these future welders go next!

Yesterday, AOMC was proud to host a MADE in Appalachia Round Table focused on helping manufacturers better understand what it means to hire second chance employees and how we can collectively create pathways to long-term success.

Manufacturing HR representatives came together for meaningful discussion surrounding workforce opportunities, employer support, and the barriers second chance individuals often face when re-entering the workforce. The conversation also gave AOMC valuable insight into how we can better support our manufacturing partners when placing participants within their organizations.

A special thank you to Future Plans for helping facilitate this important conversation and for being a valued partner as we continue to learn, grow, and strengthen the MADE in Appalachia program.

Together, we are helping individuals become work ready, life ready, while building stronger communities and a stronger workforce across Appalachia.
