HANDS OFF OUR HORSES! 🐎

The Minneapolis Mounted Patrol is the last one left in the entire state of Minnesota β€” and the City Council just tried to kill it again.

Just a few months ago, during the 2026 budget process, the Council stripped funding for the Mounted Patrol. Once again, they tried to put these proud horses out to pasture and weaken community policing in our city.

The Mounted Patrol does incredible work in the community. Officers on horseback are far more approachable β€” people feel comfortable coming up to talk with them. Kids especially love the horses, which helps build positive relationships and trust between the police and our neighborhoods. They provide a highly visible, calming presence at parades, parks, crowd events, and in areas where patrol cars can’t easily go.

They are part of our city, our police, our community, our horses.

Tell the Minneapolis City Council and Mayor: Hands Off Our Horses!

Take Action Today:
- Call or email your City Council Member
- Call or email Mayor Jacob Frey
- Demand they restore full funding for the Minneapolis Mounted Patrol

Subject: Please Restore Funding for the Minneapolis Mounted Patrol – Hands Off Our Horses!

Dear Council Member [Last Name] or Mayor Frey,

I am writing to urge you to restore full funding for the Minneapolis Mounted Patrol.

This unit is the last Mounted Patrol in the entire state of Minnesota. Just a few months ago, during the 2026 budget process, the City Council stripped its funding. I strongly oppose this decision.

The Mounted Patrol provides a unique and valuable service to our city. Officers on horseback are far more approachable, making it easier for community members β€” especially children β€” to interact positively with police. Kids love the horses, which helps build trust and strong relationships between the police department and our neighborhoods. They also offer a highly visible, calming presence at parades, parks, large events, and in areas where patrol cars cannot easily go.

The Mounted Patrol is an important part of our city, our police, our community, and our horses.

I respectfully ask that you support restoring full funding for this valuable program so it can continue serving Minneapolis.

Thank you for your time and service to our city.

Sincerely,
