Donāt let the name fool you, Kitty is about as far from a cat as you can get. This handsome Husky/Old English Bulldog mix is a delightful combination of confidence, comedy, loyalty, and heart. He has a way of making people laugh without even trying, and a way of making them fall in love with him when they least expect it.
Before arriving at BENCHS, Kitty lived on a farm. After being given away online, he eventually found himself abandoned as a stray at the local pound before making his way to BENCHS.
And heās been waiting ever since.
As of today, Kitty has spent 204 days at BENCHS. Thatās 204 sunrises in a kennel. 204 nights falling asleep without a family of his own. 204 days of watching other dogs leave while he stays behind, still believing his turn will come.
The remarkable thing about Kitty is that he hasnāt let any of it dim his spirit.
He rides beautifully in the car and walks like a dream on a leash, content to stroll alongside his favorite people as if heās been theirs forever. He loves being included, loves being part of the adventure, and loves simply being near the people he trusts.
One of our favorite Kitty memories happened during a swim session at The Paw Pet Resort. While some dogs leap into the water with fearless enthusiasm, Kitty approached the pool like a Victorian child being asked to board a ship across the Atlantic. He required reassurance. He required encouragement. He required emotional support. Most importantly, he required his people nearby.
Watching Kitty in the pool felt a lot like watching a little kid swim for the first time. Every brave step seemed to require a glance back at his staff to make sure they were still there cheering him on. Did he enjoy swimming? We honestly couldnāt tell. Did he try his absolute hardest because the people he loved were proud of him? Absolutely.
It felt less like taking a dog swimming and more like standing poolside at a childās first swim lesson, offering encouragement while they worked through a tiny crisis of confidence. By the end, we werenāt sure if Kitty had conquered the pool, but we were very sure that he had conquered our hearts.
For all of his confidence and larger-than-life personality, there is something incredibly tender about Kitty. Beneath the jokes and the goofy grin is a dog who loves deeply and forms genuine bonds with the people in his life.
Kitty must be the only pet in his future home. This is not a preference or a suggestionāit is a requirement for his adoption. Kitty does not do well living with other animals and will be happiest, safest, and most successful in a home where he can have his family all to himself. Fortunately, he brings enough love, entertainment, companionship, and personality to fill an entire household.
He is the dog who will make you laugh on hard days. The dog who will follow you from room to room just to see what youāre doing. The dog who will make ordinary moments feel special simply because heās there beside you.
After 204 days, we donāt think Kitty needs another kennel, another goodbye, or another season of waiting. We think he needs a couch.A family. A place to finally belong. And maybe someone willing to hold his hand if life gets a little scary.
