A big thank you to Brooklyn MacGregor and CeCe Noble, members of the Manistique High School YETI club, for all their work on the wetland boardwalk Saturday! They took care of cleaning off the heavy w**d-whackings near the end of the boardwalk, assisted with the replacement of new boards, and did some clipping back of brush along one of the newer trails. The boardwalk is in good shape, and is a nice place to continue to enjoy the last bits of fall color. Use caution on the boardwalk, as some boards are slippery with algae. An extra thank you to Kent and Shelly Miller for transporting all the boards from the parking lot to the boardwalk and for lots of installation work as well!

Please pardon our dust😃We are doing some work on the wetland boardwalk. A big thank you to Darren and Dave Hicks of Monarch Mowing and to Kent and Shelly Miller for doing LOTS of w**d whacking! This Saturday, some high school students and EELab committee members will be sweeping, clipping and replacing some boards. Most of the boardwalk is very passable now, it will be even better by 2PM Saturday. If you would like to help with the work bee, contact Heidi at 906-341-2965.

Saturday, June 27 at 10AM: SHRUB AND WILDFLOWER ID nature walk at the Lab, sponsored by the Schoolcraft Conservation District. Upcoming nature walks (times to be announced) include August 29, FUNGI. MUSHROOMS AND MOSSES and October 23, OWLS,BATS AND STARGAZING

We are having a trail clean-up at the Lab this coming Tuesday, May 12 from 4-6 PM. We will be raking trails, clipping back brush and installing a couple of signs. Anyone who likes the Lab and is willing to do a little work is welcome to come and help! Bring a rake or clippers if you can, we will also have a few extra🙂

The Schoolcraft Conservation District will hold a Birds and Blooms Walk with a Naturalist at the Lab this Saturday, May 2 at 10 AM. This is the link to their website: https://www.schoolcraftcd.org/upcoming-events.html #/
Looks like it will be a sunny day, and just cool enough for the bugs not to be biting much yet!
