๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ AUGUST 4th millage initiative for Schoolcraft County ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ
Learn more about millages here: https://shorturl.at/ykGI8

What is a millage?
Millages are property tax rates used by local governments to fund essential public services. The voting public gets a say in how much they are taxed and what services the money raised will support.

August 4 election millage proposal:
โ€œShall the limitation upon the total amount of general ad valorem taxes imposed upon real and tangible personal property for all purposes in one year under the Michigan Constitution be increased for funding operations of MSU Extension services, including 4-H Youth Programs, in Schoolcraft County, and levy for that purpose a new millage of up to 0.2100 mills ($0.21 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of five (5) years, 2026 through 2030, inclusive, for the purpose of providing operating funds to Schoolcraft County MSU Extension, including 4-H.โ€

How much funding will be provided?
If approved and levied, based on Schoolcraft Countyโ€™s 2025 taxable value of $479,431,318, this millage would raise an estimated $100,680 in 2026 for the first year of collection.

How much will property owners be taxed?
taxable value of property* ร— 0.21 mills รท 1,000 = annual tax amount
$ 50,000 taxable value = $10.50 annually = $0.88 per month
$100,000 taxable value = $21.00 annually = $1.75 per month
$150,000 taxable value = $31.30 annually = $2.61 per month

* Find your taxable value on your "Notice of Assessment" (form L-4400) that was mailed to all property owners in early 2026 or by calling the Schoolcraft County Clerk's Office. Taxable value is approximately 50% of a property's market/sale value.
