Middle School Girls Cross Country Takes 2nd Place at Northwoods
PICKFORD, MI — The St. Francis de Sales Middle School Cross Country Team opened their season on Tuesday, September 1, competing in the Northwoods Invitational. The girls team earned 2nd place out of a field of 8 with a score of 35 points, placing behind Munising (27 points) and ahead of Pickford (85 points). Five athletes from St. Francis medaled by finishing in the top 12.
The team was led by Annabelle LaFoille, who finished 3rd with a time of 14:31.85. June Schlabach finished 6th (15:19.65), Alia Segerstrom finished 7th (15:56.23), and Brielle Partyka finished 8th (16:10.15). Josephine Brewster rounded out the medalists, finishing in 12th place with a time of 17:01.28.
Coach Zack LaFoille says of the performance, “I’m so proud of the effort everyone has been putting in at practice and it showed on race day. With the talent and depth on our roster, I expect us to be a very competitive group all season.”
Complete meet results are as follows, for the girls: Annabelle LaFoille 14:31.85, June Schlabach 15:19.65, Alia Segerstrom 15:56.23, Brielle Partyka 16:10.15, Josephine Brewster 17:01.28, Emma Hoeve 19:06.83, Annie Schlabach 19:19.14, and Dreama Noble 21:04.74.
For the boys: Austin Wood 15:06.82, Wyatt Wood 16:04.54, Brayden Pierce 19:02.50, and DJ Post 20:42.76.
The Raiders continue their season on Wednesday, September 9, with a home meet in Manistique.
