Our House competition ended last week with Our Lady of Guadalupe winning with the greatest number of points for our October Service Project. The winners were able to take a bus to Eva Burrell Animal Shelter to drop off all the donations brought in by our amazing SFDS families! Thank you to our families, and thank you to Eva Burrell for allowing our students some animal time!

Yesterday, our school took a trip to the Bishop Baraga Shrine at Indian Lake. Fr. Tim from Garden led Mass, and the houses completed a variety of challenges and activities.

Thank you to the Schoolcraft County Court building and grounds crew for maintaining this historic area for all of us to enjoy!

Girls Cross Country Closes Season With Dominant Win In Rapid River

RAPID RIVER, MI — The St. Francis de Sales Raiders Middle School cross country club is closing out their 2026 season on a high note following a dominant win at the Rapid River Invitational. Seven middle schools competed on Wednesday night on the sandy 1.9-mile course in Rapid River.

The girls' team finished 1st overall with a score of 26 points, comfortably outpacing Mid Peninsula (45) and Superior Central (53). The boys' squad finished 4th with a score of 88 points.

Four Raiders earned medals by placing in the top 10 of the girls' race. Leading the way for the Raiders was Annabelle LaFoille, who captured 2nd place overall with a personal-best time of 13:24.2. Joining her in the top 10 were Brielle Partyka (4th, 13:29.3), June Schlabach (5th, 13:55.0), and Alia Segerstrom (10th, 14:48.1). All four medalists ran personal-best races.

The Wood brothers were the top finishers for the boys, crossing the line back-to-back in 12th and 13th place. Wyatt Wood paced the boys' squad with a time of 14:18.3, followed immediately by Austin Wood, who clocked a personal-best 14:22.8.

Showcasing the team's continuous improvement, Josie Brewster, Aleyah Pierce, Annie Schlabach, Sabree Fleagle, Jameson Ross, and Jase Abrahamson also secured new personal or season-best times in Rapid River.

The final meet of the Raiders' season is the Rudyard Autumn Classic on Saturday, October 17. The meet is scheduled to feature 18 middle school teams from the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.

St. Francis will be holding an Ignatius Press Book Fair this week!

Families are welcome to join us on Thursday, October 15th, from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM. This will include a middle school ice cream fundraiser. They will be raising money for their class trip.

We will also have sales open this weekend for parishioners after the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday and after the 9:30 AM Mass on Sunday.
