Kyra's Champions

Kyra's Champions We seek to change to ensure child safety is put first. https://kyraschampions.org Her murder was entirely preventable.

Kyra's Champions is an advocacy organization raising awareness about the risk of family violence, especially to children, inside and outside our family court system. Kyra was 28-months-old when she was shot to death in her sleep by her father during an unsupervised, court-approved visit, despite warnings and eyewitness accounts of threatening and abusive behavior. Kyra’s Champions seeks to reform

the family court system to place child safety above all other concerns in child custody cases. Kyra’s Champions is a 501(c)4 charity that focuses on legislative initiatives on the federal and state levels to ensure children and their safety are top priorities in our family court systems. Our mission is to stop child abuse and child murders. We advocate for policy changes that promote and protect children and families at risk of family violence. We need your help and support to ensure our voices are heard and that laws are passed to protect at-risk children. We seek to change the way issues of violence and abuse are addressed in family courts so that child safety is put above all else. Kyra’s Champions was founded by Jacqueline Franchetti in memory of her sweet, vibrant, loving 2-year-old daughter Kyra, who was shot to death while sleeping by her father, who then set his house on fire and killed himself during an unsupervised, court-approved visit. Kyra’s story is not unique. 70% of the time children are court-ordered into the custody of an abusive parent. More than a half million children today are with a parent who is emotionally, physically, or sexually abuses due to the failures of our family courts. We honor Kyra’s memory by working to ensure no other child should have the same fate as Kyra and no other family or community should be impacted by a similar tragedy.

📰 THE NEW YORK POST FEATURES KYRA'S LAW 📰

‼️For the first time, The New York Post has featured Kyra's Law—and published a POWERFUL editorial calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to sign it into law.‼️

The editorial highlights why Kyra's Law matters: ensuring that child safety is the highest priority in custody and visitation decisions and giving judges the training and tools they need to better recognize domestic violence, child abuse, coercive control, stalking, threats, and other dangerous factors before a child is harmed.

After nearly 10 years of advocacy, Kyra's Law has now passed the New York State Senate and Assembly unanimously.💙

Now we have one final step.

📢 Governor Kathy Hochul has the opportunity to protect New York's children by signing Kyra's Law into law.

📺 Spectrum News 1 Capital Region FEATURED KYRA'S LAW📺

Another incredible story helping New Yorkers understand why Kyra's Law matters.

Capitol Tonight Reporter Jack Arpey shares the NY Family Court failures that lead to Kyra's murder, the nearly 10-year journey to pass this legislation, and why this bill has the potential to help protect children before tragedy strikes.

Kyra's Law is about ensuring that child safety is the highest priority in custody and visitation decisions.

I also appreciated that Spectrum highlighted something many people don't see—the years of work behind the scenes. Countless meetings, countless rewrites, and difficult conversations with court officials and others to make this the strongest bill possible.

This was never about winning an argument.

It was about protecting children.

Now, the fate of Kyra's Law rests with Governor Kathy Hochul.

📢 If you believe New York's children deserve to live to their next birthday, please read and share this story, and tag Governor Kathy Hochul and ask her to sign Kyra's Law into law.

Nothing can bring Kyra back.

But together, we can help protect the next child.

💙 The Robbie Harvey

It is intended to ensure that a child’s safety well being is top priority in child custody and visitation cases.

📰 NEWSDAY: STORY OF HOW KYRA’S LAW PASSED 📰

💙 Want a glimpse of what it took to get Kyra’s Law across the finish line? This article begins to tell that story.

💔 After Kyra was murdered during a court-ordered, unsupervised visitation, I set off on a mission to help protect other children.

🏛️ Nearly 10 years of advocacy followed—countless trips to Albany, hundred of meetings with legislators per year, endless bill revisions, and the support of thousands of Champions who refused to give up.

🎉 As you know, Kyra’s Law passed the New York State Senate and Assembly unanimously.🙌

💙 One quote stopped me in my tracks:
💙 “I’ve carried Kyra’s voice for 10 years. But on Friday, the legislators carried Kyra’s voice to the finish line.”

🙏 This victory belongs to YOU—to every child victim who shared their story, every student who advocated for change, and every Champion who took action.

✨ Together, we turned an issue many had never heard of into a movement that could not be ignored.

🏁 Now we have one final step.
📢 Governor Kathy Hochul must sign Kyra’s Law and help protect New York’s children.✍️

📣 Please read and share the article, and respectfully tag Governor Hochul below and ask her to sign it into law.

💙 For Kyra.
🕊️ For every child who deserved to live.
