The Community Resource Center's Deputy Director, Janet Fry, was invited to attend Governor Kathy Hochul's press conference on May 29 regarding immigration reform and immigrant protections included in New York State’s recently adopted budget.

On May 28, 2026, New York State finalized its budget, heralding important policies that advocate for local immigrant families. These measures represent meaningful progress, but more work remains to ensure immigrant and working families can live with dignity, security, and stability.

CRC continues to support stronger protections through the NY4ALL Act and policies that promote economic justice, including the Living Wage for All Act.

Click the link below to learn more about the policies included in the state budget, their impact on immigrant communities, and why CRC continues to advocate for stronger protections for all New Yorkers.

Post shared from The New York Immigration Coalition’s Instagram page.

We're celebrating the wins the Immigration Package netted for immigrant New Yorkers, while also preparing ourselves to fight for what is still needed.

We need to end informal collusion between local law enforcement and federal immigration enforcement that puts our neighbors' lives at risk every day.

Today, CRC traveled to Albany to stand alongside advocates, workers, and community organizations supporting the Living Wage for All campaign and calling for fair wages and economic stability for working families across New York.

At the Community Resource Center, we work closely with families who are working hard every single day, many balancing two or even three jobs, and still struggling to afford rent, groceries, childcare, healthcare, and other basic necessities.

During today’s advocacy event in Albany, our team shared the reality many families in our community face. Rising costs continue to outpace wages, leaving many workers living paycheck to paycheck and one emergency away from crisis.

A living wage means families can live with dignity, stability, and peace of mind. It means parents spending more time with their children instead of constantly worrying about survival. It means workers being valued not only for their labor, but as people.

We are proud to stand with community leaders and advocates fighting for a future where every family has the opportunity to thrive.

Affordable housing is often talked about as someone else’s issue, but the reality is that it impacts all of us.

When teachers, healthcare workers, restaurant staff, childcare providers, first responders, and young families can no longer afford to live in the communities they serve, it changes the fabric of our neighborhoods.

In our recent podcast conversation with local housing leaders and community voices, we explored the challenges families are facing in Mamaroneck and Westchester, including rising rents, overcrowding, and the long-term impact of displacement after disasters.

Most importantly, we discussed why housing is not just about crisis response. It is about stability, sustainability, and the future of our community.

We intentionally included different perspectives because meaningful conversations require listening, nuance, and community dialogue.

We invite you to listen, learn, and be part of the conversation.

Our Kids Culinary Arts Classes just wrapped up yesterday, and what an incredible experience it has been!

More than just cooking, this program helped children build confidence, creativity, and independence while learning valuable life skills they can carry with them long after the classes ended.

Throughout the program, the kids explored new ingredients, practiced teamwork, and discovered the joy of creating something from scratch. It was inspiring to see their excitement, curiosity, and pride with every dish they made. Watching them grow more comfortable in the kitchen each week showed how powerful hands-on learning can be.

A big thank you to the Rotary Club for making these classes possible and for supporting programs that invest in our children’s growth and future.

Yesterday, our team traveled to Albany to stand in support of the Right to Counsel movement and the belief that every person deserves fair legal representation, regardless of income or immigration status.

Access to legal counsel can make the difference between stability and displacement for families facing housing insecurity, immigration proceedings, and other life-changing challenges. Right to Counsel is not just about legal services. It is about dignity, fairness, and ensuring equal access to justice for communities.

We are proud to stand alongside advocates, community organizations, and leaders across New York who are working to build a more just and equitable future for all.
