It’s a wrap for 2022! This past Tuesday’s distribution featured many gifts. We had boxes of beautiful handmade blankets and quilts from Project Linus, which were happily received by clients. A table stacked high with holiday treats and decorated holiday snack bags - thanks to all the volunteers (including the new LMHTF club at Rye Country Day School and a volunteer who coordinated a collection effort in her building) who donated to this effort.

We wish a very happy and joyful holiday to all our volunteers and clients.

Larchmont resident Stacy Creem presented Hunger Task Force President, Malcolm Frouman, with a check for $1,032. The donation was a percentage of the proceeds from her recent exhibition and sale at the Larchmont library. The exhibit, “Victory Farmers,” contained Stacy's oil portraits of local residents who planted home vegetable gardens and donated the resulting crop to the Task Force for distribution to their clients. A selection of Stacy's portraits are shown here.

The LMHTF Club at Mamaroneck High School has supported us throughout the year. Their most recent endeavor was hosting a bake sale to benefit the Hunger Task Force. On Tuesday the Club Presidents Ella Shapiro and Robbie De Jager presented a check for $400 to LMHTF Vice President Catherine Carney (see photo below).

Also the young teens of Victory Arms picked an impressive amount of lettuce at the Murray Avenue School garden for distributing to our clients. Other produce was dropped off by Victory Farmers at The Grange Restaurant in Larchmont and delivered to the Hunger Task Force in time for the same distribution.

Thank you to all of these young people, and to their parents for supporting the Hunger Task Force.

What a lovely gesture from Nina "The Bread Lady" this week. Along with her usual donation of rolls and bread, at this week’s food distribution Nina brought over 250 decorated cookies, which were joined by 60 snack bags created by Junior Girl Scout Troop 2697. Brownie Troop 1828 helped the Girl Scouts
pack the bags (see photos below!). Thank you to Nina, the Scouts and Brownie Troops for providing these treats.

For almost 18 years, The Partnership volunteers have collected monthly treats for the Hunger Task Force's homebound seniors and disabled clients. Special items have included: hot chocolate, jam, toothpaste, cookies, pie crusts at Thanksgiving and gift cards around the holidays.
But The Partnership needs more help -- will you consider joining? If so, email [email protected] and be a part of this simple, yet meaningful effort.

Nina The Bread Lady
Every Tuesday morning a Mini Cooper pulls up to the Food Pantry. The car is packed with several large cartons of freshly-baked rolls and bagels. Someone shouts "Nina the bread lady is here!" It's Mamaroneck resident Nina Rubin who, along with her husband Mark, runs Pastries Unlimited, a wholesale bakery company in Maspeth, Queens. About 18 months ago, looking for a place to donate surplus baked goods, Nina reached out to the Hunger Task Force. Since then, the breads and bagels she drops off have become a welcome addition to the bags of food we provide our clients.
Nina and Mark are longtime residents of Mamaroneck, along with their daughters Rebecca and Julia. In addition to Pastries Unlimited, the Rubins also operate the Smith Street Bread company, purveyors of artisan breads, and Bakehouse, which offers high-end pastries. Thank you, Nina, for your thoughtful generosity.
