The YWCA mission is to Eliminate Racism & Empower Women. YWCA TASK is a program for Malden High School girls in grades 9-12.

We create projects that revolve around important world issues and then educate the Malden Community on what we've learned.

On Thursday the YWCA TASK girls conducted an informational table in partnership with the Greater Boston Council on Alcoholism (GBCoA) at the high school to inform students about substance misuse and gather data on what they are exposed to as high school students.

We are excited to share with everyone our upcoming Speaker Series for the Greater Boston Council on Alcoholism grant! Before the process begins, we have conducted preliminary research on substance use in adolescents, looking specifically at ma*****na, alcohol, and ni****ne usage and it’s impact on teens. We compiled this information into a poster and hope to keep you all updated!

This poster the YW girls created shows the three most used substances by teens and talk about what they do and the effects it can have. For anyone who is struggling or knows someone who deals with this you can access support and resources by calling or texting 800-327-5050 the Massachusetts Substance Use Helpline. This was made possible by the Greater Boston Council on Alcoholism (GBCoA).

The historic landmark Fellsmere pond originally provided Malden with a direct water source in case of emergent need of water due to a previous incident of the burning of the company Converse. Check out our poster that goes more in depth!😊
