MEET THE MEHJA BOARD: DAY 8
✨ Kayla Carroll – TIP (Thoroughbred Incentive Program)
Kayla is serving her second year on the MEHJA board and represents the Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP). While she describes herself as more of a free spirit, she is most closely affiliated with Few Acres Farm.
Kayla has always been around horses. Growing up, she spent a lot of time at Scarborough Downs, where her mom and aunt worked. As she got older, she sought out volunteer opportunities to stay involved in the barn, continuing to build her connection to the horse world.
She says she’s still learning the ins and outs of horse shows but is grateful to have some incredible mentors who have taught her so much over the past few years.
Her horse Sequoia is her best friend, but she will always hold a special place in her heart for Missy (also known as MisBehavin’).
One of Kayla’s favorite parts of the sport is watching her 9-year-old daughter, who is the reason she joined the board, grow within the horse community. Seeing her daughter find her place among supportive peers and phenomenal trainers has been incredibly meaningful and rewarding.
Show Day Essentials
🥔 Go-to snack: Munchos
🎶 Hype song: Bad Girls – M.I.A.
🧰 Always in the tack trunk: Snacks for the littles (and the horses too!)
Fun Fact: Kayla has been horse sitting for local barns for nearly 10 years. She loves that it allows her to experience different disciplines and meet so many horses with unique personalities—and she’s incredibly grateful for all the people and animals she’s met along the way.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, Kayla is excited for the energy and excitement that comes with show days and loves watching everything come together.
She hopes MEHJA members focus on having fun, keeping communication open, and working toward their own personal goals throughout the season.
