The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is commonly known as the Scottish Rite. It is one of several appendant groups of the worldwide fraternity known as Freemasonry. Each Valley has up to four Scottish Rite bodies, and each body confers a set of degrees. In the Southern Jurisdiction these are the Lodge of Perfection (4°-14°), Chapter of Rose Croix (15°-18°), Council of Kadosh (19°-

30°), and the Consistory (31°-32°). The Supreme Council confers the 33rd Degree of Sovereign Grand Inspector General. The Scottish Rite is one of the two branches of Freemasonry in which a Master Mason may proceed after he has completed the three degrees of Symbolic or Blue Lodge Masonry. The other branch is known as the York Rite, consisting of Royal Arch Masons, Royal and Select Masters and the Knights Templar.

On this date in 1753, George Washington received the third degree of Craft Freemasonry in the lodge at Fredericksburg, Virginia. He remained part of the Masonic order for the rest of his life.

The third degree of Masonry deeply impresses serious lessons about personal integrity, the importance of faith, and perseverance in times of tremendous difficulty. Washington's life bears out that he took those profound lessons to heart.

These important truths are still taught in every Masonic temple today, and remain part of our heritage.

Hi, everyone. I have a new raffle for the Madisonville Consistory. This one is a 750 ml bottle of Weller Antique 107 bourbon. This bottle cost $127. Only 30 tickets will be sold. I try to make the raffles have good odds. Tickets are $10 each. There are currently 25 tickets left. Immediately after the last ticket sells, I will have someone draw a winner, and move on to another raffle for our Consistory. You can find me at various lodges in western Kentucky Districts 1-2 and 3. Also at Marshall County Shrine Club monthly meetings, Princeton Shrine Club monthly meetings, and the West Kentucky Scottish Rite Club monthly meetings held in/around Paducah.
