Mission Trip Q & A
I don’t have medical or dental training, what would I do?
We don’t either! But you can assist the dentists by setting up their trays, handing out toothpaste and toothbrushes, or giving them the instruments they need. Sometimes we even hold hands with the people when they are so scared. You might want to do fluoride treatments on the kids. The best part of that is giving toys out!
I don’t speak Spanish! How will I communicate?
We don’t either! But there will be lots of interpreters. Sometimes you don’t need an interpreter! A smile and a hug says a lot!
What about eyeglasses? I don’t know anything about that!
Well, the system we use is super easy to learn. If you can pop a lense in a frame you’re set!
How is the food?
Our last trip to Copan was great! The hotel had an American style pancake breakfast every morning. And the restaurants at night were good. Just stick with the bottled water!
Is it safe?
After a dozen mission trips we have never felt unsafe!
What’s your favorite thing about going?
Visiting homes, replacing smoky stove pipes, holding babies while mama sees the doctor, giving toys to the kids, watching someone put on a pair of glasses for the first time, meeting new friends that will become family, teaming up with Hondurans who love their people and serve with big, big hearts. Best of all-knowing that everyone who comes will hear the gospel of Jesus!
