Day #4 of the Illinois Law Enforcement Explorer Association State Competition 🏆 The Macomb Police Explorers received multiple awards during the awards ceremony! As an advanced team, Explorers received 1st place in the Tactical Emergency Medical Response event, 2nd place in the De-Escalation scenario, 3rd in marksmanship at the Range, and 4th in Rapid Response! Additionally, Explorer Parker Gay earned a medal for fastest time achieved in the Patrol Bicycle event! 🥇

The Post #4044 advisors are extremely proud of the way these young adults performed over the last few days and it is evident that their hard work has paid off! These young people are the future of law enforcement and they are already eager to serve their future communities in the most technically and tactically proficient ways possible. Our Explorers are outstanding! ⭐️

Thanks to the Macomb FOP Lodge #189's generous donation, and the participants at our fundraisers throughout the year, our Explorers had to pay an extremely minimal fee to participate. We are so thankful for our donors who made it possible for us to attend this event.

Additionally, we’d like to thank all of the volunteers who made this event possible! And thank you to ILEYA for planning and hosting this event at WIU. 🚔

Day #3 of the Illinois Law Enforcement Explorer Association State Competition 🚨 Today, Explorers continued to be put to the test in events like courtroom testimony, search warrant operations, bicycle patrol, de-escalation in crisis situations, a written examination, and responding to a burglary alarm. These Explorers utilized their skills that they’ve been learning all year long to achieve excellence in each of these events! ⭐️

On Tuesday, May 5th the Macomb Police Explorers Post #4044 had its Spring awards ceremony where several members were honored for their outstanding achievements over the course of the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. During these semesters, Explorers completed 54 training hours and participated in 15 community service events. Awards earned included: Letter of Commendation, Physical Fitness, Perfect Attendance, Tenure, Explorer Achievement Medal, and Explorer of the Year.

Explorer Sergeant Alexis Navarro was awarded the 2026 title of Explorer of the Year for her remarkable performance, professional attitude, and continued dedication to the Post. Squad one, which is run my Navarro, was also awarded the Intramural Competition Star for winning the 2026 Intramural Competition, which was held on May 2nd, 2026.

Explorer Corporals Parker Gay and Madison McGrew were both promoted to the rank of Explorer Sergeant. Explorers Aalyhna Hickman and Braden Shepka were both promoted to the rank of Explorer Corporal.

The Macomb Police Explorer Program is a hands-on training program for youth and young adults, ages 14 to 20, who are interested in the field of law enforcement. This program enables young people to develop marketable leadership skills, impresses the importance of community service, and provides an environment based on teamwork.
