NENSA recognizes our 2026 Elite and Devo Teams!

In February, the animating principle from John Caldwell and the other founders which the NENSA banner was raised under – that if our community mobilized and organized, we could develop Olympic medalists again here in New England – was achieved by Ben Ogden (twice!). What we were especially proud of is that where Ben has gone, he has gone as a NENSA skier, a distinct path, steeped in community, a consistent study of the sport alongside one’s peers, and overall competitiveness.

Here's to cultivating the acreage he helped shed the way for through the drive and passion of our developing skiers!

This coming winter marks the 50th year of the Bill Koch Youth Ski League!

In the lead up to this incredible milestone, we will be sharing community memories, stories, and photos from the league over the years. To kick us off, we’re sharing a recent video from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders about Bill Koch, the man who inspired the league and the league’s philosophy focused on introducing young skiers to the sport through joy, camaraderie, and adventure: https://www.sanders.senate.gov/bernie-buzz/meet-olympic-medalist-bill-koch/.

❄🏆 Introducing: The 2026-27 NENSA Eastern Cup! 🏆❄

As things have mellowed from last winter’s hustle, and New England’s started to bloom once again, the flicker of something new is on the horizon again. As skiers from across the East get back to the woodshed, stacking the days, weeks, and hours that’ll lead to new dreams, there’s a renewed sense of possibility in the air. Word’s gotten out about what’s special about skiing among these ancient highlands, and low endless coasts called New England.

NENSA is proud to carry the fire forward from the woodshed for the New England ski community, by introducing the 2026-27 Fischer Eastern Cup!

❄ Eastern Cup #1: Cheri Walsh Memorial at Holderness School – Holderness, NH
❄ Eastern Cup #2: Quarry Road Trails – Waterville, ME
❄ Eastern Cup #3: Lake Placid Eastern Cup and US SuperTour – Lake Placid, NY
❄ Eastern Cup #4: Oak Hill Eastern Cup and Dartmouth Carnival – Hanover, NH

One of the best things we can give young athletes is the opportunity to play, explore, and try lots of different activities. 🚴‍♀️⚽⛰️🏊‍♀️

Research shows that sport sampling helps kids develop the ABCs of athleticism: Agility, Balance, and Coordination, while reducing burnout and injury risk and building a lifelong love of movement.

Whether it’s biking, swimming, soccer, hiking, dance, or free play with friends, every activity helps create stronger, more confident athletes both on and off snow.

There will be plenty of time to specialize later. For now, let kids have fun, build friendships, and discover the joy of movement in many forms!
