One of the best things we can give young athletes is the opportunity to play, explore, and try lots of different activities. 🚴‍♀️⚽⛰️🏊‍♀️

Research shows that sport sampling helps kids develop the ABCs of athleticism: Agility, Balance, and Coordination, while reducing burnout and injury risk and building a lifelong love of movement.

Whether it’s biking, swimming, soccer, hiking, dance, or free play with friends, every activity helps create stronger, more confident athletes both on and off snow.

There will be plenty of time to specialize later. For now, let kids have fun, build friendships, and discover the joy of movement in many forms!

As many in the ski community may already know, Matt Whitcomb, head coach of the U.S. Cross-Country Ski Team, has a 7 year old niece with a rare genetic condition who needs a bone marrow transplant. The ideal donor is someone between 18 and 35.

This week, the Dartmouth Ski Team is helping host two opportunities for volunteers to join the national registry as potential donors. If you live in the Hanover area and are between the ages of 18-35, we hope you’ll consider joining the registry. And regardless of where you live you can learn more and join online here: https://my.nmdp.org/s/join.

Snow, cold, and a hint of a thaw, and skiing. It was a miles (and kilometers) to go before you sleep-type classic New England winter!

The idea of the NENSA Community Race Series is premised on the idea that it will celebrate those that can turn the conventional relationship with such a winter on its head. From fast-rollicking sprints and 10 k races, to events where you ski until only one remains, through to relays where you go until you have to pass the torch, literally, to the next generation.

Those represented in our Zak Cup Winners, Marathon Series Challengers, and Club Series Champions didn't just show up to race throughout the winter. They made the most out of what being perched in this particular pocket of the universe gives to them. A community, built and maintained by those who love to travel into the stilled quiet of a winter woods on their own, and then push through them, time and again, together.
