Children's Mental Health Matters

Children's Mental Health Matters The Children’s Mental Health Matters!

For more than 25 years the Children’s Mental Health Matters Campaign has organized events, awareness tools, and media to raise awareness of the importance of children’s mental health. Campaign brings together non-profits, schools, and other agencies with the following goals: raising public awareness of the importance of children’s mental health and substance use, helping reduce the stigma of menta

l health, and connecting families, educators and providers throughout Maryland with resources to help children. The Maryland Coalition of Families and the Mental Health Association of Maryland work together to coordinate the Campaign across the state. We encourage you to join our campaign along with schools and organizations as a School or Community Champion to share our resources, events and other updates, as well as participate in raising awareness and encouraging resiliency among Maryland’s children.

June is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. For some new mothers, childbirth can be a traumatic experience that leads to postpartum PTSD. An estimated 1-6% of women experience postpartum PTSD following childbirth.

Postpartum PTSD is treatable, and support is available. Recognizing the signs and seeking help can make a meaningful difference in recovery.

If you or someone you know is struggling, you are not alone. Learn more about postpartum PTSD and available resources here: https://www.mhamd.org/what-we-do/outreach-and-education/healthy-new-moms/learn-more/perinatal-mood-anxiety-disorders/postpartum-post-traumatic-stress-disorder/
