Today our ECO Camp students explored the incredible world of trees and forestry! We discovered just how important trees are for every living creature!

With help from local forestry professionals Texas A&M Forest Service, campers learned how to determine a tree's age by counting growth rings, created their own tree cookie projects, participated in an interactive forest competition game, and discovered the important role trees play in our everyday lives. Students also learned how sustainable forestry helps provide the products we use while protecting our natural resources for future generations with our friends from West Fraser Angelina! Thank you for investing in the future of our community West Fraser! We had so much fun exploring each process of what you do!

Thank you to Keep Texas Beautiful and (H-E-B) for supporting hands-on environmental education through the Our Texas, Our Future Grant Program. Opportunities like these help inspire the next generation of environmental stewards right here in Angelina County.

More photos and camp highlights coming soon but we couldn't help but keep the fun growing! 🌲🌲🌲

🐝 ECO Camp Day 1: Pollinators! 🐝

Our ECO Camp students spent the day learning about one of nature's hardest workers, the honey bee, and the fun is JUST getting started.

Yesterday, campers heard from a local beekeeper about the important role bees and other pollinators play in our ecosystem. Through our generous sponsors, Boys and Girls Club of Deep East Texas students participated in a hands-on pollination science experiments and even heard from a real Bee Keeper! It was amazing to watch students make connections between the foods we eat, the flowers we enjoy, and the pollinators that make it all possible.

A huge thank you to Keep Texas Beautiful, (H-E-B), and our friends West Fraser Angelina for helping make environmental education opportunities like ECO Camp possible through the Our Texas, Our Future Grant Program! More photos and camp highlights to come! 🐝🌸🍯

We wrapped up the month of May with our beautification award winner of the month…. 🥁🥁🥁

The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce! Not only do they have a beautiful building but they bring the community together helping businesses both small and large, non profits, and citizens stay connected and engaged. We are lucky enough to be able to work alongside them. Their hallways hold our tree city usa awards, our Governer’s Achievement awards, and more importantly they hold a gathering place for people of all walks of life to come together. That’s where the true magic happens!

Know a business who goes the extra mile? Nominate them for the AB/C beautification award and thank you to Integra Insurance for allowing us to shine a spotlight on community rockstars! ✨

We couldn’t be happier to see some more greenery going in our vibrant downtown!

Thank you to the Lufkin Daily News for this wonderful story that truly highlights all the collaboration that all start with a small idea. We are proud to play a part in that collaboration! 💚

Community members gathered downtown Tuesday afternoon to commemorate the United States’ semiquincentennial with the planting of a maple tree in front of Shepherd Street Yoga. (Click on the story in the comments. Story and photo by WILLIAM LANIGAN/The Lufkin Daily News)

YAY for our friends at Lufkin Creative!!

YAY for our friends at Lufkin Creative!!

Big news for the future of arts and culture in Angelina County! 🙌🎉

Today, the Angelina County Commissioners Court officially approved a resolution supporting Lufkin Creative’s initiative to pursue designation as a Cultural District through the Texas Commission on the Arts. This is a huge step forward in strengthening our creative community, supporting local artists, encouraging tourism, and continuing to invest in the vibrancy of our region. 🌲

We are incredibly grateful for the support and partnership of our county leaders as we work toward building a stronger, more connected creative economy for East Texas.

This designation has the potential to create lasting impact — not just for the arts, but for local businesses, downtown development, community pride, and future generations.

The momentum is building, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. 🎨✨

We are just beaming with pride to see all those smiling faces out there! Thank you Love Lufkin for this beautiful post we could not have said it better ourselves.

Without the work from each partner, the generosity of Shepherd Street Yoga, and assistance from both the city, county, and the community we would not be able to do the things we do! 🌳

These small acts are how we keep our community thriving one day at a time!
