Today is White Cane Awareness Day! 🤍

First recognized nationally in 1964, this day celebrates the white cane as a symbol of independence, confidence, and freedom of movement for people who are blind or visually impaired. It also raises awareness about the importance of pedestrian safety and accessibility.

World Sight Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about vision health, encourage regular eye care, and recognize the importance of access to services and support for people living with vision loss.

Here are a few ways to take part:

✨ Prioritize your vision – Make routine eye care part of your overall health.
✨ Spread the word – Share why vision health and access to eye care matter.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual observance that began in 1945 to recognize the positive impact of people with disabilities in the workforce. Today, NDEAM continues to promote disability inclusion and meaningful employment opportunities.
At CABVI, this is an important part of our mission. We are proud to employ people who are blind or visually impaired and to foster a workplace where individuals can develop their skills, contribute their talents, and pursue greater independence.

The VIE Ability Furniture team was proud to furnish the new facility for NorthStar Behavioral Health, and it was wonderful to celebrate our partnership during their recent open house! We’re excited to have NorthStar in the neighborhood!

CABVI was glad to attend the ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Monroe Rest Area, one of Ohio’s most visited rest areas! As part of the statewide effort to rebuild and remodel rest areas across Ohio under Governor Mike DeWine, the new facilities include exhibit rooms highlighting Ohio attractions, history, parks, and communities.

Our CABVI Custom Signage team was proud to create signage featured throughout the rest area. Our sign business is one of the ways we put our mission into action, creating employment opportunities on an inclusive team where people who are blind or visually impaired can contribute their skills and talents.

It was great to celebrate the opening with Governor DeWine and everyone who helped make this project possible!
