Ludlow Heritage Museum, along with the National Railway Historical Society of Northern Kentucky Cincinnati, is proud to collaborate with Pepper Construction to create new digital renderings and aerial videography for the historic 134 year old Cincinnati New Orleans & Texas Pacific Railroad Storehouse.

This project will help document the building’s character and support its ongoing preservation and future planning efforts. Thank you to everyone involved for bringing this important piece of rail heritage into clearer view—both up close and from above

Two events and two great chances to see the American Freedom Train fired up along with some amazing authentic steam whistles. While you’re there, check out the Midwest Railway Preservation Society and the number of projects underway including steam locomotive 4070.

The National Railway Historical Society of Northern Kentucky and the Ludlow Heritage Museum is partnering with Operation Life Saver! Members of the group are preparing to embark as new instructors for the organization with special thanks to Noel Giles Kennedy as a colleague and true professional in spearheading education in Ohio.

Together we hope to continue fostering the organizations mission in "Preventing collisions, injuries and fatalities on and around railroad tracks and highway-rail grade crossings. Injuries and fatalities that occur at highway-rail crossings or on railroad property are a real, but often preventable, problem. We are committed to providing the educational resources and necessary solutions to help resolve this problem."

Today was a very special day for the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati Chapter. Students from Ignite Institute, along with members of the Ludlow Heritage Museum, made the public debut of the 1:48 scale historic structures of the Ludlow Lagoon, the Southern Passenger Station, and Elmwood Hall.

Preservation through education, especially through STEAM, can give students of all ages valuable workforce readiness and firsthand exposure to industrial applications in engineering and architecture.

More to come, but we can confidently say that the students and their parents were very pleased with the work they accomplished.

There is exciting forward progress happening on several fronts at the Ludlow Heritage Museum as we continue working to restore our historic Storehouse.

One important step has been the beginning of the careful quoting process for replicated windows here in Cincinnati. These replacements will include the double-hung north/south windows as well as the transom windows. In all, 66 windows in this 133-year-old building will need to be replaced, and we are grateful to be working with professionals who understand the care and craftsmanship this historic structure deserves.

Dave Green of Marvin Windows joined Museum Architect/Historian and member Andy Corn along with Board President Andy Wartman for what will likely be one of several visits to the Storehouse as we move through this important process.

We are also continuing to build strong partnerships with contractors. Pepper Construction recently visited the Storehouse, where Mr. Matt Hileman toured the building with Mr. Wartman, assessed its condition, and began putting together budget numbers for the restoration work ahead. A more detailed rehabilitation assessment will follow, helping us better understand the path forward.

We are thankful for the time, expertise, and encouragement of everyone helping us care for this special place. Step by step, we are moving forward together to preserve the Storehouse for future generations.
