Morris Safe House

Morris Safe House Morris Safe House is a non-profit, no-kill rescue facility for dogs on the South Plains. Hours: M-Sat. 9:00 - 4:00
(239)

We address both the physical and psychological needs of each dog to ensure a happy, healthy reintroduction into their new forever homes. The Morris Safe House is climate-controlled with individual indoor/outdoor covered runs connected with a Mason-Pittsburg dog door. We utilize a valve watering system to allow for easy filling of water bowls and concrete floors inside and out wash and drain into a

channel which drains into the septic tank’s sewage system. Our food prep and laundry areas allow for the proper sanitization of food bowls and ensure all our furry friends receive clean bedding.

CHEWIE- the happy, proud, lovable Pomeranian!! I am 4 years old and really want to have my own human; I was relinquished because my mom could no longer care for me. I am very obedient, good on a leash for walks, good with most other dogs. I love to play with toys! I am current on all vaccines, neutered, house trained ( when I can get out) and I have a life time fee paid ID chip and it is reistered!! Come meet me at the Morris Safe House 3240 Nightingale Road, Lubbock, TX 79407 806-239-0156 hours M-Sat 9-4.

Today we talk about Titus! This sweet boy came to us in "bad" shape in 2023-he had been street dog most of his life. He was and still is afraid of other dogs (probably had to fight for his existence). At AMC the diagnosis was not good: heart worms, both ears were badly infected, Ehrlichia blood disorder caused by fleas and ticks, demoix mange (non contagious) this comes through the mother's milk and destroys the hair follicles, a yeast infection on his skin, needed to be neutered-after the heartworm disease is treated ( a 3 month treatment)! I asked Dr. Polk. "what do we treat first and what can we do at the Safe House to help this along? Titus was put on a regiment of daily medicated baths, a good diet and lots of love! The next day the baths were started and he readily accepted the warm sudsy water and did not struggle or balk. The good food he eagerly enjoyed! The love part he had to learn to trust he would not be hit or hurt but that came in time Toys were a foreign item and he did NOT know what to do with them or how to play!! This past August,2025 he suddenly discovered HOW TO PLAY WITH A TOY!!! We were overjoyed that FINELY Titus learned how to dog!!!!
He was given a DOB of 12/7/2016 NOW he is absolutely a little jewel that loves to go to the play area and just hang out. Still fearful of other dogs but loves to be loved!!!!Titus is current on all vaccines, has a life time fee paid ID chip and is on Simperica Trio every month to protect him from heartworm disease, fleas and ticks. His hair growth is better than it has ever been ( still has some spots with no hair). He is loyal, loving, and would like to have his own human!

Introducing TRILOGY, 4 year old female Chihuahua/Min Pin mix. Trilogy got her name because of the black, gold, white fur that cover her tiny little body. We brought Trilogy to the Safe House 2/5/24 to help her- she had been so abused as a puppy and suffered from non trust and over stimulation of new things and loud noises. The first year was one of just working with her to learn trust! The next year now that she trusted me, I needed her to respond to requests like "sit" for treats and she MASTERED IT!!! She loves to go outside in the play area and just relax away from the barking and activities inside the Safe House. She will make a single person who has a quiet living environment a perfect companion. She now plays with toys, sits for food and loves to go on walks. This little LADY deserves a HUMAN to love her and share life with her.
