We are the Union of Adjunct Faculty (UAF-UAW) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, affiliated with the UAW as Local 1596. With some 500 members, we are, as our contract reads, the “sole bargaining representative of all part-time faculty, part-time teaching staff, and hourly faculty.” On May 18th, 2012 adjuncts overwhelmingly voted in favor of our first negotiated contract. UAF is working to
insure that now and in the years to come the elements of this contract are promptly and fairly implemented, and that the rights of all adjuncts embodied in this contract are acknowledged and respected.
