PERFECT advice if you're adding new trees to your home or business! Don't build a mound on top of the root system! πŸ™‚β€β†”οΈ Thank you for sharing, Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust!

As the weather warms up, mulch can be a lifesaver for your trees. It retains moisture, saving you time and water while keeping your trees healthy and refreshed. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it.

The DOs and DON'Ts of Mulching:

DO use the 3-3-3 method: Apply a 3-inch layer of mulch in a 3-foot ring around the tree, keeping it 3 inches away from the trunk.

DON'T build a "mulch volcano": Piling mulch directly against the bark traps moisture, which can lead to rot, insect damage, and poor root structure.

Did you know MCG has been growing food at the 4.5-acre Fowler Urban Farm since 2015?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fowler Urban Farm produced 20,000–30,000 lbs of fresh food annually. Today, production looks different β€” and that’s a good thing. Nearly half of the farm is shared by local Market Gardeners growing culturally connected crops for their communities and for MCG programs, such as our Mobile Market and Food Is Medicine.

Over the past 15 years, MCG has continued to grow thanks to supporters near and far. Can you give today to help us meet our $15,000 fundraising goal?

Visit - MillCityGrows.org/donate - to support MCG today! πŸ…
