If thereโs a place in your heart for a rescue bunny who has been waiting waaaaaaay too long for her forever home, please come meet our girl Fig. Sheโs our longest resident, sheโs been through a lot, and itโs her turn for happiness ๐๐
Fig is a one-year-old girl English spot and lop mix. She has spent her entire life in shelters, rescues, and fosters - first at the public shelter in San Pedro as a baby, where she was surrounded by barking dogs, then at Sunshine. She was part of a litter (her siblings Star and Whisper also came to Sunshine) but sheโs the only one who hasnโt been adopted.
Fig is smart, curious, active, and adorable - but she canโt catch a lucky break. All her siblings got lop ears, but she got upright ones (lop buns are adopted much faster). She doesnโt like spending time with other bunnies, so sheโs not a good fit for matchmaking. Once sheโs comfortable, she loves to play and explore, but it takes her a while to warm up to new people. So when adopters come to meet the buns, Fig gets overlooked ๐
We do the best we can for our Figlet, but rescue life isnโt right for her. She got into a tiff with another rescue bunny and had to be seen by the vet for a deep bite. Then she managed to cut her nose and had to go through another round of vet visits and meds. Sheโs all healed and healthy now - but itโs been a long first year for Fig ๐
If youโre interested in adopting Fig, you can visit her at our center in Long Beach any Wednesday - Sunday, 11:00-6:00. Learn more about adopting from Sunshine on our website: www.sunshinerabbit.org/adopt
