Thank you Tyler and crew from Straight Cut Tree Service for helping us remove 3 large, problematic trees from the Long Home Museum site today. For the safety of all volunteers and guests, the Long Home Museum will be closed today while we finish the job. We will reopen tomorrow 1-4pm.

While we love big trees and really hated to let ours go, the removal is another step toward creating safe, accessible, beautiful museum grounds at Long Home. We do plan to replant smaller, native trees and flowers at the Long Home Museum site once we progress a little further with cleanup and exterior restoration.

What an excellent collaboration! Yesterday, freshmen from The Academy at LCSC met up with Leah Walthery (Cass County SWCD Director) and Jill Snyder (Cass County Historical & Genealogical Society) to introduce students to our stretch of the Wabash River here in Cass County. We talked ecology, geology, indigenous people, and changes brought by colonialism and current trends in urban and agricultural development. The weather was perfect, the Wabash was beautiful in the morning light, and our well-maintained Little Turtle Waterway is an excellent teaching venue.
Thank you to Grace Scott for contacting us to set up the program and sharing the pictures we've posted here. Partnerships like this are what it's all about........
