The boys finished their pool sessions last night, this last session they worked on at depth mask clears, out of air buddy assist Ascend, at depth BCD Ditch, emergency no stop ascends and BCD at depth failures. Next up in August is their open water dives and finish their scuba merit badge requirements.

The boys had their first pool session and their 5th class in Open Water Diver!

For this pool session, they had to pass a few physical fitness tests, starting with Treading water for 10min no gear, then a 300 meter swim using mask, fins and snorkel.

They also learned regulator tasks and how to clear water out of masks.

Troop 8 had an outstanding experience this weekend, earning three merit badges through Adventure Calls. The boys successfully completed their kayaking, canoeing, and white water rafting badges. The highlight of the trip was the opportunity to raft the river twice. Additionally, the troop hiked to the top of the falls to enjoy the sunset.

Last night a few of our Scouts began their OWD certification(open water diver) with Buffalo Scuba. This was the 1st of 4 classroom sessions.

All of this work is in preparation for their trip to Camp Sea Base in 2026, where they will be diving the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and living on a Catamaran!
