To celebrate America's 250th Anniversary, the Cambria Historical Society will be holding a tour on July 18 to tell stories of notable characters buried in the Pekin cemetery and to remember 25 local Union soldiers (7 were still teenagers) who died during the Civil War and have their names inscribed on the 17' high monument at the north end of the cemetery. The History of the Town of Cambria between 1808 and1878 is in a book recently donated to the Museum. In 1808 the Town provided support for the poor via a tax! Are we so generous today?
