A letter from his foster…
Meet my foster, Bandit!
Bandit has been with me for about 3 months now, and I can easily say he has become one of my favorite fosters. He is quite literally one of the happiest, sweetest boys you could meet..his tail never stops wagging!
Bandit is still young, learning, and figuring out that he is safe. He can be cautious with new people and is sometimes more timid around men, so slow introductions are important. But once he decides you’re okay, it doesn’t take long before he’s begging for pets, kisses and ALL of your attention. He follows me everywhere, loves to cuddle, has absolutely no concept of personal space, and can be adorably clumsy.
A few things to know about Bandit:
•Potty trained & crate trained!
•VERY high energy…he loves walking, running, hiking and pretty much anything outdoors. He needs an active home that can give him plenty of physical and mental exercise. This boy is definitely not a couch potato!
•Very dog friendly and would probably LOVE another similar-sized dog to play with. He does well with smaller dogs too, but sometimes forgets his own size.
•He has done fairly well with cats, but he will chase them if given the opportunity.
•He seems to enjoy kids, but because of his energy and size, he may accidentally knock over little ones.
•He’s very food motivated and knows the basics of sit, down and shake. We’re continuing to work on his manners and leash pulling.
One thing I do want to be completely transparent about is that Bandit has shown food guarding around his bowl. He has made a lot of progress with me and the animals he trusts, but he may still warn unfamiliar people or animals to give him space while he eats. We’re continuing to work on showing him that he is safe and that no one is going to take his food away from him. He does great with treats around both people and animals.
Bandit needs structure, routine, patience and someone willing to continue putting in the work with him. He may not be the perfect fit for every home, but I truly have no doubt that for the right person, this boy is going to be an incredible companion.
He wants so badly to love and be loved, and I promise you, he is worth the effort.
