This week, Bees In The D paid the students of Divine Mercy Academy a visit! 🐝

Bees in the D is a nonprofit organization located in downtown Detroit. They represent a cooperative effort between residents, schools, organizations and business in the Metro Detroit area to contribute to both the health of honey bee colonies and the education of bees to the environment.

The students learned about the life cycle of honey bees, beekeeping, and the importance of bees.

On Wednesday, DMA students took a field trip the the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO). The DSO provided an enriching opportunity for the students to engage with various musical instruments and appreciate a live performance by professional musicians.

At DMA, we prioritize the principle that “everyone belongs.” The experience offered by the DSO exemplified how a diverse array of musical instruments produces a cohesive sound. Each student’s individual contribution can be emphasized through the collective auditory experience created by the orchestra.

The instrument and musicians imparted valuable insights into our students, including:

- How working together creates harmony
- Every instrument is important
- It is important to embrace difference talents
- Listening to one another is important
- Beauty comes from diversity
- Mutual respect is essential
- Success is shared when we work together

The collaboration demonstrated by the musicians in the orchestra serves as a powerful illustration of collective achievement through artistic expression. In a similar vein, we are committed to fostering the children’s confidence in their individual abilities. At Divine Mercy Academy, we promote an environment where students support one another and we aim to cultivate a more cohesive and unified group of learners and friends.
