IREM West Michigan is excited to celebrate 55 years in 2025!

On August 13, 1970, all CPM’s in the southwestern region received a letter from Robert D. Britigan in Kalamazoo seeking feedback on forming a new chapter for the West Michigan area, calling a meeting for August 27, 1970, to discuss the possibilities. After subsequent meetings, it was decided that a Chapter would be requested from IREM Headquarters.

This Charter was approved at the 1970 IREM national meeting, and the first planning meeting of the new IREM West Michigan Chapter was held on December 17, 1970.

The first official meeting of IREM West Michigan was held on February 17, 1971, where the first round of officers were installed. Thus, setting forth a legacy lasting 55 years, with 40 chapter presidents, hundreds of members, and a strong and driven purpose for the future.
