Todays book highlight!
Don't Be Lonely, Lone Ranger
by Joe Taylor

An entertaining spoof of American politics with energetic characters and sharp repartee.
A modern-day man trying to emulate the masked do-gooder of the Old West finds it harder than he expected in Taylor’s raucous adventure. - Kirkus Reviews

Winner of the Tartt First Fiction Award!
VOICES by Enid Harlow

Most of the stories in VOICES celebrate the lives of people living on New York City’s Upper West Side. The stories pay tribute to the streets they walk, the conversations they have, the subways, and buses they ride, the parks they visit, the bars and restaurants they love, as well as their desires and obsessions.

A fan of science fiction and the unknown? Check out todays book: Francine by Joe Taylor

Francine was the illegitimate daughter of René Descartes and Helena Jans van der Strom, a bookseller’s maid. At the age of five Francine died from scarlet fever. Descartes was devastated. Two years later, he created an automaton resembling her, which sailors threw overboard, thinking her a witch.
My imagining is that she lived for centuries, caught in something resembling a computer loop.

The Enchantress Queen and The Ghost Who Made Me, winner of the Changing Light Novel-in-Verse prize for 2025

The Enchantress Queen and The Ghost Who Made Me is an all-too-American story of a life created and lived in the changing norms of the late 20th century. It centers on a girl whose accidental conception irrevocably alters the life trajectories of her teenaged parents and who witnesses her parents’ inevitable divorce, her family’s subsequent fall into poverty, and her mother’s struggle to find a new partner in the disco era and cope with her life trauma and mental health issues. The girl comes of age amid these challenges and ultimately makes peace with the imperfect people who loved her.
