Angie’s Caring Hearts (ACH) Foundation was established on July 31, 2009 and incorporated on August 3, 2009. Larkin, who was a very generous and loving woman that believed in sharing her blessings with all of God’s children. ACH became a 501 (c) (3) charity organization on August 3, 2009 and is managed by a nine (9) member Board of Directors (Founding Board Members were: Lenora L. Sheffey, Annie P
. Minor, Ruby P Jackson, Landria N. Sheffey, Dr. Brenda Larkin Williams, Lajuana Williams, and Cynthia D. Mitchell)
The primary objective of ACH is to implement special projects and programs in Sumter County, Alabama and neighboring communities by providing for the needs of the elderly, disabled, and low-income families. Projects implemented by ACH include:
1.Angies Stockings for Christmas – Provided grocery gift certificates to elderly and low-income families during the Christmas holidays for the past 5 years.
2.School Uniforms and Supplies for Students - Purchased school uniforms for students in the area and provided school supplies for elementary and high school students in the county school system.
3.College Scholarships – Awarded first Collegiate Scholarships to three 2014 graduating seniors from Sumter Central High School and provide Educational Assistance Awards to two students.
4.Other Donations and Assistance: (a)Adopted a family for Christmas in 2010- Provide food, gifts and assistance with the utility bills for an underprivileged family. (b) Provided assistance to displaced family during the April 27, 2011 tornado disaster. Future projects and programs planned for the area include: (1) Health maintenance and prevention programs, (2) Substance abuse educational seminars, (3) Tutoring and job preparation workshops, and (4) Tax preparation and financial management programs. The primary funding source for ACH has been through donations from family and friends, Sumter County Commission, and a one year grant from the Black Belt Community Association in 2010.
