🚨 We could use some extra support. 💙

Since the school year began, Set To Thrive has provided more than 550 local children and youth with essential items through Thrive Bags, Student Bags, and Hygiene Kits—representing more than $28,000 in inventory delivered to our community.

And now, our bins are running low.

With fewer in-kind donations, grants, and individual gifts this year, we’re facing a significant funding gap. Meanwhile, requests for Thrive Bags continue to come in.
🎯 Our goal: Raise $30,000 to replenish our inventory and keep saying YES to children who need us.

A Thrive Bag is more than a backpack filled with essentials. It reminds a child experiencing foster care or homelessness that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Imagine something for us:

You are freshly 18 years old. �You have officially aged out of foster care, legally independent, but you don’t quite feel like it. All you have is a trash bag of old belongings and a friend's couch that you sleep on, and you never know if you will still have it tomorrow.

You enroll in a local college and try your best to show up every day. Everything is going well.�But then…
Your old laptop breaks. The textbooks for the class cost $200. Rent is due this month.

So you pick up another shift at the grocery store. And another. But eventually, college feels more like a dream you can’t reach, and your chair sits empty every morning.

This is the reality for thousands of foster youth across the country. Over 60% of foster youth enrolled in college are already working full-time just to make ends meet—more than 83% face economic hardship while enrolled. More than half will earn under $14,000 after aging out.

Nobody should ever have to choose between groceries and their future.

Something NEW is taking shape at Set To Thrive… 🌱✨

We’ve always been passionate about providing children experiencing foster care and homelessness with comfort, confidence, and stability when they need it most. But we believe our mission shouldn’t stop there.

A new program is coming soon — and it’s designed to support the next chapter. 💚

We can’t share all the details just yet… but we’re excited to grow with the kids we serve and extend our impact into a critical stage of life when many traditional support systems begin to fall away.

🎒✨ It’s been a BUSY few weeks at Set To Thrive!
With school back in session, the Thrive Bags have been flying out the door! 📚💙

In just the past two weeks, we’ve packed and delivered more than 40 custom Thrive Bags to children experiencing foster care and homelessness throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Each bag is filled with brand-new essentials selected to help a child feel comfortable, confident, seen, and supported during what can be an incredibly challenging time. 💛

And we’re just getting started! We’re so grateful to everyone who helps make these moments possible—from donors and volunteers to community partners and those who host donation drives.

40+ bags. 40+ children reminded that their community cares. 💙

Do you remember your first day of school? 📚🏫
That nervous knot of anxiety in your stomach, climbing onto that bus not knowing where to sit, how big the hallways seemed as you gripped your backpack straps tight.
It’s a fear we have all faced. Most have only had it once or twice.
For children in foster care, that feeling doesn’t go away.

Every placement change, every new home, often means a new school as well. That means new classmates, new teachers, new environments, and stress that no child should ever have to face. Studies show that 1 in 3 foster youth change schools 5 or more times. Not because they want to, but because the system moves them.
Imagine being a child and never feeling quite settled in. This is reality for a lot of foster youth.
�But in despair, there is also hope. You don’t have to be a superhero to make a change in these little lives. Because every child deserves a chance to belong.

What a wonderful day at the Tri Valley Nonprofit Alliance resource fair. I am so proud to be a part Tri Valley Nonprofit Alliance. Thank you Kathy Young for your vision of serving communities. We had over 400 people come in to pickup backpacks, receive health and policy updates and so much more We are so grateful to work alongside Tri-Valley Haven, CitiServe of Cowlitz County and many more.
