Last week, Daybreak Labs was proud to host Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert for a life sciences leadership convening organized by Biocom .

I recently sat down with leaders from across the life sciences industry to discuss the future of this vital sector—both here in our district and across the region. Thanks to strong collaboration with Biocom , we brought together organizations including Biocom CA, Bayer, Exelixis, Grifols, Daybreak Labs, Engine Room, Datadabra, Steri-Tek, UniFirst, and Vihayas to explore key issues such as workforce housing, transportation, funding, and the regulatory environment.

These conversations are essential to supporting innovation while also addressing the needs of the broader community. I’m committed to continuing this dialogue, staying accessible to our business community, and working together on solutions that advance opportunity, sustainability, and long-term success for our region.

George Parrish — Chief Evangelist, Bay Angels. Founder of Entrepreneur Lab LLC. Advisor and mentor to hundreds of startups across the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Europe. Instructor at HEC Paris, ESCEN, ESAM universities, and Italian Accelerator INNOVIT.

Simon Ng — Deal Flow Committee, Bay Angels. 20+ years bridging finance, technology, and pharmaceuticals in the Bay Area. Former finance executive turned founder, now focused on helping startups secure funding and build strategic partnerships.

Honored to welcome CA State Senator Jerry McNerney to Daybreak Labs for a behind-the-scenes look at the founders building what’s next in life sciences, AI, and industrial technology.

During the visit, we shared how our founders are tackling big, real-world problems:

• Clarica Genomics (Austin So, Ph.D.) is making routine annual cancer screening economically viable by preserving the most informative parts of the blood sample.
• SenCelligent Biosciences (Sherri Newmyer, Ph.D.) is developing ultrasound-activated CAR T approaches to help close the gap in treating solid tumors.
• Inphasol (Justin Boeckman, Ph.D.) is advancing next-generation phage technologies—turning probiotics into cell factories for therapeutic peptide delivery, starting with GLP-1. (Materials shared)
• EquipSight (Jason Hsu) is continuously monitoring industrial equipment and piping with thermography and AI.
• Datadabra (Jennifer Slotnick) is building infrastructure to validate datasets so they can be trusted, reproduced, and reused.
• MosaicRx (Nihit G. Gurram) uses AI to detect polypharmacy-driven risk in geriatric care—helping clinicians prevent avoidable prescribing cascades.
