Denver Botanic Gardens announces that Suzi Latona will be Executive Director of Chatfield Farms, effective October 16. Suzi has been the Gardens’ director of operations since 2017 and succeeds Larry Vickerman who is retiring after serving as Director of Chatfield Farms for 21 years.

“Having worked closely with Chatfield Farms’ staff on many projects from operations to horticulture and public events, I have a deep appreciation for its unique and special place – it is a living laboratory that converges agriculture, horticulture, history and community.” She goes on to say, “It is an honor to steward Chatfield Farms into an exciting new chapter, growing the impact and reach that Larry Vickerman initiated and championed over the last two decades, from growing family traditions at public events to donating fresh food to community partners and being responsible stewards of the land through restoration projects.”

The 700-acre Chatfield Farms is preparing to begin phase two of the Master Development Plan thanks to the generosity of scores of donors including several foundations. Next steps include the construction of the Robert and Judi Newman Education and Conference Center, the Morgridge Curiosity Haven, new gardens and important restoration projects. These additions will help Chatfield Farms connect an increasingly urbanized south suburban areas of the Denver metro area.
