On Monday, June 29th, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Watson v. Republican National Committee to preserve longstanding election practices that allow states to count mail ballots postmarked by Election Day and received shortly after.

“This is a victory for voters and for an election system that meets the needs of the people it serves. Eligible Americans shouldn’t lose their voice because of mail delays outside their control. Now, it’s on Congress to pass long-overdue nationwide protections for voters. Vote by mail is such a useful voting tool, even the President uses it. Common Cause will mobilize our one million members to make sure Congress hears voters loud and clear: national voting protections now."

This ruling protects the votes of the 44,000+ voters in Nebraska's 11 mail-in-only counties.

Not to mention the thousands of other Nebraska voters who choose mail-in ballots every election.

Fair Maps Need Fair Data

The Census is more than a count. It helps decide voting maps, public funding, and political power.

A new Trump policy bans a key privacy tool used by the Census Bureau. Experts warn this could mean less useful local data for rural areas, small towns, historically underrecognized communities, and most federally recognized Native nations.

This matters for redistricting in 2031. If communities are harder to see in the data, they are easier to split, silence, or ignore.

Every family deserves privacy. Every community deserves fair data. Every voter deserves equal voice.

The Nebraska Supreme Court accepted our appeal.
An expedited hearing is set for March 31.

Yes, Nebraskans’ data was released to the DOJ.

But future voter data is still at risk.

Does Nebraska limit big donors in our elections? No.

We are one of only 11 states with zero caps on individual donations.

That means the wealthiest donors can give unlimited amounts.

That is not freedom.
That is not fairness.

Nebraska voters should not be drowned out by millionaires.

LB1017 would set donation limits for candidate campaigns.
We support it.

Our elections should belong to the people, not the highest bidder.

Reach out to members of the Government Committee and encourage them to advance LB1017.

ICE activity is raising real fear in our communities.

And the Nebraska Legislature is responding.

LB906 and LB884 say officers should not hide behind masks while carrying out public duties.
Accountability matters. Honesty matters.

LB907 and LB1034 aim to reinforce limits on ICE in spaces like our schools, hospitals, and courthouses. Places that should feel safe and not like traps.

This is about family.
This is about freedom.
This is about standing up for our neighbors.
