‼️CONTEST ALERT: NAME OUR MASCOT‼️
Why a river otter, you ask?
Last summer, two North American river otters were discovered in the Loyalhanna Creek, a rare and unexpected find.
Why does it matter?
Rivers otters largely disappeared from Western Pennsylvania in the early 1900s, due to unregulated trapping and habitat pollution. The return of the North American river otter means that our waterways are CLEAN and HEALTHY, the sole mission of the Loyalhanna Watershed Association and something to be celebrated.
So, who’s this guy?
Our spunky rasta river otter is a nod to the dedicated work of the LWA and a spirited reminder that clean water, conservation and preservation of land and waterways is crucial to humans and animals.
But our dude needs a name. That’s where you come in.
