Two bills in the PA House focus on disclosing how much water and energy data centers use. Why is that necessary?

Estimates about how much water data centers use range from 300,000 gallons per day for mid-sized facilities to 5 million gallons per day for large ones. Which municipalities have that much water to spare?

Data centers cause noise pollution. First, the heavy equipment used to construct the facilities are loud. Then, once they are up and running, diesel generators plus heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems create a constant hum that can be audible to neighboring residents and wildlife.

The Klein report found that a single data center could pose negative health risks for people living at least 0.6 miles away, sometimes further. Data center operations, especially those using DIESEL BACKUP GENERATORS, can cause respiratory issues.

CONGRATULATIONS! $2 million to protect the Ohio River Basin and people who rely on it for clean water.

A PennEnvironment lawsuit, under the Clean Water Act, against plastic pollution in Ohio River Basin was a success with data provided by Three Rivers Waterkeeper and Mountain Watershed Association monthly “nurdle patrols.” The patrols discovered the tiny plastic pellets (nurdles) being routinely discharged by Styropek into the confluence of Raccoon Creek and the Ohio River near Monaca.
