💙 Celebrating a Life of Service to Ligonier 💙

Today was a special day for our community as we celebrated the retirement of Mayor Earle Franklin and recognized the many years, he has dedicated to serving the City of Ligonier.

During his retirement celebration, Ligonier Rotary was proud to present Mayor Franklin with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition, one of Rotary’s most meaningful honors.

Named for Rotary founder Paul Harris, the Paul Harris Fellow recognition represents a contribution of $1,000 or more to The Rotary Foundation in an individual’s name. Rotary clubs often use this recognition to honor people whose lives and service reflect Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self and who have made a meaningful difference in their communities.

Mayor Franklin has certainly done that.

Throughout his years of service, Mayor Franklin has been deeply committed to Ligonier and the people who call it home. His leadership, dedication, and genuine love for our community have helped shape Ligonier into the place we are proud to call home today. His impact can be seen not only in the projects and progress that happened during his time as mayor, but in the relationships, he built and the countless ways he showed up for our community.

Public service requires a tremendous commitment of time, energy, and heart. Mayor Franklin gave all three to Ligonier.

It was our privilege to recognize him today as a Paul Harris Fellow and to say on behalf of Ligonier Rotary:

Congratulations on your retirement, Earle. Your service has made a difference, and your legacy will remain part of Ligonier for years to come.

This morning was a special one for the Ligonier Rotary Club as we celebrated two projects that will leave a lasting mark on our community! 💙💛

We were proud to dedicate the new benches at Gazebo Park and the Peace Pole at Kenney Park, both made possible through the incredible generosity of Don and Sally Strouse. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to Ligonier and for helping create spaces where our community can gather, connect, reflect, and enjoy one another.

The Peace Pole carries a particularly meaningful message. Peace Poles are recognized around the world as symbols of unity, hope, and a shared desire for peace. Our pole displays the message of peace in Arabic, Spanish, English, and Dutch, reminding us that peace crosses cultures, languages, and borders. As shared during today's dedication, peace begins with each one of us and grows through how we serve, lead, and care for our neighbors.

The Peace Pole at Kenney Park is intended to be a place for quiet reflection, conversation, friendship, and meditation, while reminding everyone who visits that what unites us is far greater than anything that could divide us.

Thank you, Don and Sally Strouse, for making these additions to our community possible. Your generosity will be enjoyed and appreciated for years to come.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored, participated in, volunteered for, or supported the Ligonier Rotary Club Disc Golf Tournament today at Kenney Park!

Even the rain tried to join the tournament today, apparently it heard there would be flying discs and figured it was the perfect time for a shower!

What a great day filled with fun, friendly competition, and community spirit. Events like this are only possible because of the incredible support from our sponsors, players, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the day a success.

We are so grateful for a community that continues to show up, give back, and support local projects and initiatives through Rotary.

Special thanks to everyone who braved the course, tossed a few discs, shared some laughs, and helped make today memorable. We truly appreciate each and every one of you!

So exciting to see youth leadership in action!

Four West Noble High School students were recognized Monday evening as part of the RYLA leadership camp.
Layne Targgart, Giselle Lopez, Emily Chiddister and Donald Baker were joined by Ligonier Rotary Club President Margarita White at Tuesday evening's West Noble School Board Meeting in recognition of the student's leadership trajectory.

There’s something pretty special about investing in the next generation of leaders and this weekend, the Ligonier Rotary Club is doing just that! 🙌

We’re so proud to send FOUR West Noble High School students to RYLA! For those who may not know, RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a program designed to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and inspire young people to make a difference in their communities.

Opportunities like this don’t just happen, they’re made possible by organizations that believe in our youth and their potential.
Thank you, Ligonier Rotary Club members, for continuing to pour into these students and helping shape tomorrow’s leaders.
