CAPCE CAPCE is the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education CAPCE, by its charter, maintains the standards for the delivery of EMS CE.

The Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), was founded in 1992 under the vision and guidance of Janet Head, then President of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). Janet recognized that not all EMS continuing education (CE) was of a level or quality that she would expect for practicing EMS providers. Thus, she sought support from the

leadership of other EMS leadership organizations such as The National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE), The National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP). Together these organizations worked to provide an accreditation service for EMS based CE. Those standards include requirements for active medical direction, valid post-tests, quality infrastructure, sound educational design including delivery methodology, marketing, fees, evaluation, student record keeping and data reporting. CAPCE accreditation exists so that EMS providers have access to high quality, standard-driven continuing education activities and are awarded credit for participating in such activities.

Wisdom Wednesday ๐Ÿš‘

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves."
-Viktor E. Frankl

Some lessons are learned in moments we would never choose.

Growth is not always about changing our circumstances. Sometimes it is about adapting, finding perspective, and discovering strengths we did not know we had.

As you move through this week, remember that resilience is built one challenge, one decision, and one step forward at a time.

Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication helped protect the freedoms we enjoy today. As we gather with family and friends, we remember those who gave everything in service to others and reflect on the profound impact of their sacrifice.

We are grateful. We remember. We honor.

๐Ÿš‘ EMS Week 2026 | EMS Remembrance Day ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

Today, we pause to remember and honor the EMS professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

For EMS Remembrance Day, we are highlighting the National EMS Memorial Service, whose mission is to remember and honor EMS personnel who have died in the line of duty and recognize the sacrifice each made in service to others. The organization is an all volunteer effort dedicated to preserving the legacy of fallen EMS professionals and supporting remembrance across our profession.

This yearโ€™s EMS Week theme, โ€œImproving Outcomes Together,โ€ reminds us that EMS is built on service, teamwork, and commitment to something greater than ourselves. Today, we honor those who answered the call, cared for others in their greatest moments of need, and left a lasting impact on their communities and the profession they served.

We remember their dedication.
We honor their sacrifice.
We will not forget.

๐Ÿš‘ EMS Week 2026 | EMS Recognition Day ๐Ÿ’š

There are some people who pass through your life for a season, and there are others who become part of the way you see the world forever.

Those words, written by CAPCE Executive Director Jay Scott in his reflection โ€œTo My Old EMS Partners,โ€ capture something many in EMS understand deeply.

EMS partnerships are built in long shifts, sleepless nights, rushed meals, hard calls, dark humor, quiet moments, and the kind of trust that only comes from managing chaos side by side.

EMS is more than a job.

It is teamwork, trust, compassion, sacrifice, and showing up for one another when it matters most.

For EMS Recognition Day, we want to recognize not only the profession, but the people beside us through it all.

The partners who taught us something.
The ones who made the hard days manageable.
The ones we trusted without hesitation.
The ones we still carry respect and gratitude for years later.

This yearโ€™s EMS Week theme, โ€œImproving Outcomes Together,โ€ is reflected in every partnership, every team, and every person who helps carry the weight of this profession.

Tag an EMS partner who made an impact on your life or career and tell them thank you. โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿš‘ EMS Week 2026 | Save-A-Life Day โค๏ธ

When severe bleeding occurs, every second matters.

In many emergencies, bystanders are on scene before first responders arrive. Knowing how to recognize life threatening bleeding and take immediate action can make the difference between life and death.

Today for Save-A-Life Day, we are highlighting Stop the Bleed, a national initiative that empowers everyday people with the knowledge and confidence to act before EMS arrives.

This year's EMS Week theme, "Improving Outcomes Together," reminds us that improving outcomes starts with prepared communities. When more people are equipped with life saving skills, we all become stronger.

Take a few minutes to watch this video and learn how you could help save a life when it matters most. โค๏ธ
