The Board of Associates held its 59th Hewitt Awards Scholar-Athlete program at the Niagara Frontier Golf Club on May 3. Adam McNab and Torianne Frank of Niagara Falls High School each won $2,500 scholarships and a total of $11,400 in awards were presented to the 16 high school honorees. Thanks to Sal Capaccio of WGR for being our guest speaker, to Rich Meranto for chairing the event and to the volunteers of the Board of Associates for their efforts.

Thanks to everyone who shared our poster for today’s Tony Guthrie Pancake Breakfast of the Board of Associates of Mount St Mary’s Hospital. We had great attendance serving more than 250 breakfasts. Special thanks to our great sponsors that include Anthony DiMino of DiMino’s Lewiston Tops; Bob Burns of CRB Holdings/Tim Hortons; Town of Lewiston Supervisor Steve Broderick; and Lewiston #1 Fire Company. All proceeds from this event will be directed to the Mount St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.

Today the Board presented the 2025 Nominees for the
58th Thomas E. Hewitt Scholar/Athlete Award. Congratulations to all the nominees. Congratulations to our 2025 winners,
Ava Devald from Niagara-Wheatfield and Lucas Pynn from Lockport High School who will each receive $2,500. The other nominees will receive $400. That means we will be distributing more than $11,400 in scholarships. We're able to do this because of the donation from our sponsors. On Tuesday night, the board hosted our Hewitt Awards student and parent nominee reception at Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center. The sixteen nominees and their family heard about our process, spoke about themselves and discussed their upcoming interviews. These students are all amazing scholar athletes.
