We are in college commencement season and we are so excited to celebrate that one of our moms is graduating from Stony Brook University, School of Engineering in May. But.......she just told us that she is not going to the ceremony because she could not afford to buy the regalia (cap and gown). She never asks for help and we had no idea. We have reached out to the Stony Brook Student Support Team to see if they can obtain the regalia for her and they started working on it today. However ,our back-up is to reach out to our supporters, friends, neighbors, etc. to see if anyone knows someone who will loan this young woman the needed regalia. The color is a red gown and she is only 4' 11" tall. Please email [email protected] if you can help.
I know we can make this happen because she has worked so hard and overcome so many obstacles to get to where she is today. It is important for her 2 year old son to see his mother receive her diploma and to document that he was there.

Edited to add: it was too late to get through the loaner program. We should hear back from the school Monday if they can get one. If not, we will complete the order for her that day.
