🧠 IMAGINE... APHASIA AWARENESS MONTH 🧠

June is here β€” and it's time to make aphasia visible. Aphasia affects over 2 million Americans. Most people have never heard of it. That changes this month. πŸ’™

Living with aphasia is hard enough. But living with aphasia when the world doesn't understand? That's like needing a wheelchair β€” and finding no ramp.

You deserve support. You deserve to be seen.

All month long, we're sharing stories, spreading hope, and building community β€” together.

You Are Not Alone. ❀️ We Are ARC.

πŸ‘‰ Follow us all month! Our campaign launches on June 1st. (Spoiler alert - you may be able to win a FREE aphasia T shirt!)

You β€” yes, YOU β€” can change that.

And there is a free ARC t-shirt of your choice involved. πŸ‘•

Full details coming June 1. Stay tuned β€” we can’t wait to share this with you! ❀️

🎡 Do you know Randy Travis? He was one of country music's biggest stars. Then in 2013 β€” a massive stroke changed everything.

Randy lost his ability to speak. He has aphasia.

His wife Mary stayed by his side. ❀️ She never gave up on him. And neither did he.

His story will move you.

We are ARC. ❀️ We are Family.

When Randy Travis came out of a coma, physicians discovered that Travis had suffered a stroke, which had affected the entire central region of his left brain.

β˜€οΈ A message from someone in our past messaged me today. She remembered David and I from 1995. She saw him after his stroke. She saw the struggle. The pain. The fear.

She had no idea where our journey would lead. Back then, I cried nearly every day.
David lost his friends. He lost his words.

The school moved him from gifted β€” to special ed. He was treated as though he was "dumb and lazy." But inside? He was still the same smart David. He just had aphasia.

Four years after his stroke β€” he locked himself in his room. He refused to go back. That was our darkest moment. But we found help. We found hope.

And today β€” David and I advocate for people who can't speak for themselves.

We started ARC, an award-winning non-profit organization.

If you are in the dark days right now β€” hold on.

Hope lives. Patience pays off.

"It takes a village. Build a tribe. Ask for help."

We are ARC. ❀️ We are Family.

Cheering you on!
Carol and David

πŸ’™ Every Monday is a fresh start.

Recovery isn't a straight line. Some days are hard. Some days surprise you. But showing up β€” again and again β€” is where strength is built.

To everyone in the ARC family living with aphasia: you are doing something remarkable.

And you don't have to do it alone. 🧑

Today we pause. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ We remember the brave men and women who gave everything.

They fought for our freedom. They fought for our families. They fought for our right to connect β€” and to belong.

At ARC, we think about our community today.

Some of our members are veterans.

Some have lost loved ones who served.

All of us know what it means to fight hard.

To keep going.

Every single day.

We are grateful. We are honored. We remember. ❀️

From our family to yours β€”
have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

We are ARC. ❀️ We are Family.

Aphasia can feel so lonely. πŸ’™ You sit with your thoughts. But the words won't come.
People pull away. The phone stops ringing.

The silence grows louder.

We know that feeling. And we refuse to accept it.

You are not alone. Not here. Not in this community.

Right now β€” someone just like you is reading this. They understand. They get it. They want to connect too.

So let's do something simple.

πŸ‘‡ Say HELLO in the comments below.

That's it.

One word.

One connection.

Let's end the isolation of aphasia β€” together. ❀️

We are ARC. ❀️ We are Family.
Community. Connection. Hope.

Most people have never heard of aphasia. 🧠

But nearly 2 million Americans live with it.

Here's what it really means.

Imagine...
Not being able to speak.

Not being able to read.
Not being able to write.

Not being able to say β€”
"I love you."

That's aphasia.

It affects language.

But it also affects everything else.

Jobs. Relationships. Independence.
Every single day.

Here's what it does NOT affect:

βœ… Intelligence

βœ… Thoughts

βœ… Feelings

βœ… The desire to connect

People with aphasia have so much to say.

They just need more time. And more patience.

Do you know someone with aphasia?

Drop a ❀️ below.

Share this post to spread awareness.

Someone needs to understand this today.

We are ARC. ❀️ We are Family.
Community. Connection. Hope.

Do you know someone with aphasia? 🧠

Here are the basics everyone should know:

βœ… Aphasia is a language disorder β€” not an intelligence disorder

βœ… It affects speaking, reading, writing, and/or understanding

βœ… Recovery looks different for everyone

βœ… Connection and community help recovery

βœ… Isolation hurts it

The more people understand aphasia β€” the less alone our community feels.
