🐾 Together, We Can End Pet Homelessness! 🧡💙

What if we could prevent hundreds of kittens and puppies from ever becoming homeless? We CAN, and we ARE! ❤️

At Wilmington Animal Centrix, we believe the most compassionate way to address pet homelessness is to prevent it before it begins.

Through our Spay and Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP), we help make spaying and neutering more accessible to pet owners in our community.

🐱 Last year, our vouchers helped 323 cats and 248 dogs get spayed or neutered! That’s potentially thousands of unwanted litters prevented and countless animals spared an uncertain future.

But we can’t do this alone. We need our community’s support! ❤️

On this very rainy day WAC would like to once again say Thank You to everyone in our community who donated to our 2026 Cleaning Supply Drive for Ruffian Foundation and Paws Place. Yesterday we delivered this incredible amount of supplies to Ruffian. This is a year‘s supply, and will save them 100’s of dollars for pet food and medicine. We have an amazing pet loving community!❤️🐱🐶🐶

🍂 Before you rake it all away… remember, those leaves are someone’s home. 🐝🦋🐸🐢

Fallen leaves may look messy to us, but to wildlife they can mean shelter, protection, and a safe place to spend the colder months. Caterpillars, native bees, moths, butterflies, frogs and countless tiny creatures depend on the natural spaces we sometimes hurry to clean up.

This fall, consider leaving a patch of leaves in a garden bed, under shrubs, or in a quiet corner of your yard. A little less tidying can mean a whole lot more habitat. 💚

Sometimes helping wildlife is as simple as doing a little less. 🍁

The WAC October Member Spotlight is on Mandi, our Fundraising Coordinator.
We asked her to tell us why she volunteered a with us, and to tell us a little bit about herself and her pet family!
**I volunteer with Wilmington Animal Centrix because I believe the best way to fight pet homelessness is to address it at its source. Rescue is incredibly important, but preventing animals from entering the shelter and rescue system in the first place can change the trajectory of an entire community.
WAC's mission of "ending pet homelessness one spay and neuter at a time" is something I believe in deeply. I love that our work combines prevention, education, community partnerships, and support for the people and organizations already working so hard on behalf of animals.
As Fundraising Coordinator, my role has allowed me to combine my love of animals with something else I genuinely enjoy—bringing people together. I help with fundraising, community outreach, events, marketing, partnerships, and telling WAC's story. Whether we're bringing adoptable cats and dogs into a local business, creating a fundraiser, connecting with the media, or simply getting more people talking about spay and neuter, I love being part of the work that makes those connections happen.
For me, volunteering with WAC isn't just about helping animals today. It's about helping create a community where fewer animals need to be rescued tomorrow.

Our family has two dogs- Brutus and Nyssa, and four cats - Lena, Lorelai, Jenkins and Rigel, and one two legged non-furry kid, Bo! They bring so much joy to our lives!
