Representatives of the Brunswick County Homeless Coalition (BCHC) attended a recent General Club meeting of the Cape Fear Woman's Club where members presented them with a donation to assist with their mission of decreasing the incidence of chronic and transitional homelessness in Brunswick County.

GFWC-CFWC members volunteering at Cinderella's Closet, a ministry of Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC. Where donations of new or gently used formal wear were gifted to young ladies in New Hanover County to use for prom or another school-sponsored formal. Picuted are L:R- Pat, Katie, and Barb.

Representing GFWC-Cape Fear Woman's Club at the 122nd GFWC-NC Convention in Raleigh, April 26th - 27th are club members Julie Wolfe, Cynthia W. Hewett, and Club President Jan Holt Allen. Cindy was installed as 2024-2026 GFWC-NC President elect and CFWC received the GFWC-NC Most Creative Fundraising Project Award for their Inaugural Sip and Sign Brunch and Author Book Signing event held in November 2023.

GFWC-CFWC welcomed Karen Throckmorton, 2024-2026 GFWC-NC President as installing officer of our 2024 CFWC Officers. Our May General Meeting was held on Sunday, May 5th at Compass Pointe Golf Club. Congratulations Jan Holt Allen, Jennifer Bass Bolton, Katie Haldeman and Katti Marin. Thank you ladies for your willingness to serve!

Our inaugural Sip and Sign Fundraiser was held on Saturday, November 11th at the Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery. What a terrific day we had with wonderful guests from around the Cape Fear area including many of our Federation Sisters from GFWC of Holden Beach, GFWC-South Brunswick Islands, and Mary Stewart Woman’s Club. Many thanks to Dawn Long-Miller of the Pelican Bookstore and to our Four Favorite Authors from the Carolinas: Marybeth Mayhew Whalen, Author, Donna Everhart, T.I. Lowe, and Kim Wright. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who supported this event! Through the generous giving of all of our supporters, we were successful in raising funds to support scholarships for local students and to provide support to Cape Fear Area Charities supporting women and children.

The Brunswick County Commissioners announced the resolution proclaiming September 30, 2023 as the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Brunswick County "Step Up to End Hunger Day of Service" in Brunswick County, NC. GFWC-Cape Fear Woman's Club, GFWC of Holden Beach, GFWC-South Brunswick Islands, Shallotte Junior Woman's Club and Southport Woman's Club are included in this proclamation. Each club received a signed copy of the resolution.
