We provide opportunities for networking, education, exhibitions and recognition for members and the art community. We respect, value and encourage an appreciation for art in an ethical and courteous manner. Our juried artist members are from the Kansas City metropolitan area and excel in the mediums of watercolor, oil, acrylic, drawing, mixed media, photography, glass, pottery, jewelry and digital
art. Summit Art curates and manages the largest art gallery in eastern Jackson County, Missouri, at Saint Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit. Proceeds support the Summit Art Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to graduates pursuing a degree in an arts-related field. Summit Art was founded in 2004 by a small group of local artists wishing to transform lives and enrich the community through the visual arts. Summit Art became a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization in 2006. Over the years, Summit Art has grown to include over 100 members and is becoming one of the most active art organizations in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Summit Art engages the public through exhibitions, scholarships, art workshops and classes, and the two annual signature events, the Plein Air Festival and the Summit Art Festival. Activities take place primarily through the volunteer efforts of our membership. Other activities include the Summit Art Photographers and Friends and the Summit Art Fine Art Forum. These groups meet monthly for friendly critiques, camaraderie and to learn new techniques. Join us so that you, too, can experience first-hand, the pride we take in supporting art and artists in our community!
