Don't miss Speaker Mary Berle, owner/steward of the renowned Lila Mountain Farm, at 1:30pm at Pyrapolooza this Saturday at the 4H Fairgrounds in Pittsfield, MA

The Berkshire farm is a 420 acre working farm for sheep and Highlander cattle. The heart and roots of the farm, began in 1980 with the focus on conservation, sustainability and providing high quality, locally raised products to local people. It produces hundreds of pounds of wool annually, as well as meat and other products. Most recently the Field of Dreams was added for flowers and pollinators.

Lila Mountain Farm has long embraced the invaluable and diverse role of Great Pyrenees and other LGDs that work there.
Mary will speak about the importance of Pyrs in Berkshire farm life and the protective and joyful presence they bring to the farm.

DO YOU HAVE THE RIGHT HOME FOR HOMER?

Homer’s past is a bit of a mystery, and even his age is uncertain—but what is clear is the kind of dog he is today. Homer is an adult male who was recently neutered and is ready for a new chapter with the right person. He is housebroken and enjoys going for short walks, where he does very well on leash, but he truly believes he is a house dog. At first, Homer can seem a little reserved as he takes time to feel safe, but with calm, patient people, he warms up quickly and forms strong bonds. Once he does, he’s affectionate, playful, and loves nothing more than relaxing and cuddling on the couch. Homer does have some reactive behaviors, including guarding attention, so he needs to be the only pet in the home. He is currently living with a calm female dog, but the situation is not working for him, making it especially important that he find a new home soon. Homer would thrive with a patient adopter who understands the Great Pyrenees breed and is willing to help him continue building confidence and security. With the right guidance and love, he has so much potential to blossom into the wonderful companion he’s meant to be. If you think you could be the right match for Homer, please send a message, or email [email protected]
